Stomata is a sustainable, start-up clothing brand with a focus on giving back to the environment. Our unique t-shirts feature beautifully embroidered flower designs, including Daisies, Poppies, Sunflowers, Violets, and Forget-me-nots. What makes Stomata special is our innovative packaging, which doubles as a plant pot. The packaging contains coco coir that, when rehydrated, becomes soil, allowing customers to plant flower seeds that come with each shirt.
By combining fashion with eco-consciousness, our goal is to promote environmental responsibility, encouraging customers to grow plants from their shirt's packaging and contribute positively to the planet.
Pick the Right Location
Poppies thrive in full sunlight, needing at least 6 hours of direct sun each day. A sunny windowsill is an ideal spot for them.
Planting Poppies
Scatter the seeds across the soil surface, as poppies don't need to be planted deeply. Gently press them into the soil with your hand or a flat surface. Keep the soil moist (but not soggy) during germination, which typically takes 10-15 days.
Watering
Maintain moist soil, particularly during germination. Once established, poppies are fairly drought-tolerant, but they’ll need regular watering during dry periods.
Poppies are easy to grow and perfect for adding a vibrant burst of colour to your garden. Enjoy the beauty once they bloom!
Pick the Right Location
Daisies thrive in full sun, so it's best to keep the pot on a sunny windowsill.
Planting Daisies
Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks, when seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them outdoors after the last frost date.
Watering
Water regularly but ensure the soil is well-drained. Daisies do not like “wet feet” and should not be sitting in soggy soil., water the plant from base, keep their leaves dry and prevent mildew.
Pick the Right Location
Sunflowers thrive in full sun, find someplace sunny, maybe on the windowsill, to leave your sunflowers to start growing
Planting Sunflowers
Dig a hole about 1 to 1.5 inches deep, Place the seed in the hole and cover with soil.
Watering
Water your sunflowers immediately after planting. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged during the germination period. Once established, sunflowers are fairly drought-tolerant. However, ensure they get consistent moisture during their early growth stages, especially during dry spells
Once dried, you can remove seeds from the flower head to save them for next year or eat them as snacks!
With these steps, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying a stunning sunflower garden.
Pick the Right Location
Avoid direct sunlight as its known to burn their leaves, Violets prefer partial shade and tolerate some sun but thrive better with protection from the harsh midday rays.
Planting Violets
Lightly cover the seeds with soil, as they need light to germinate.
Watering
Keep them evenly moist but avoid overwatering. They thrive in consistently moist, well-drained soil.Avoid getting water on the leaves, which can cause spots. Keep the soil moist, not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.
With the right care, violets will bring beauty and fragrance to your home or garden.
Pick the Right Location
Forget-me-nots prefer partial shade to full sun. They tend to do best in spots with morning sunlight and afternoon shade.
Planting Forget-Me-Nots
Sprinkle seeds on the surface of the soil and lightly press them in. Do not bury the seeds, as they need light to germinate. Keep the soil moist until they sprout (usually in 2–3 weeks).
Watering
Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged. Forget-me-nots don’t like to dry out completely, so water regularly, especially during hot or dry spells. Water at the base of the plant to avoid getting water on the foliage, which can encourage fungal diseases.
Forget-me-nots often symbolise remembrance and love, making them a lovely addition to gardens with sentimental significance. They can also be great in wildflower meadows!
